Description
This product is the deceased insect for scientific study or display. Actual specimen can be different from the picture shown on the product page. Larger males have larger and more developed horns/mandibles while smaller males have smaller and less developed horns/mandibles. Size of the horns/mandibles are not proportional to sizes.
Specimen of the Eastern Hercules Beetle (Dynastes tityus) comes under 3 conditions as the following
A : All parts are intact and ready to be softened for adjustments.
A-: Some parts detached such as tarsi or antenna which can be glued. No missing parts.
A2: Some parts detached such as tarsi or antenna which can be glued. Some missing parts.
How to adjust and fix the specimen for display.
1. Place the specimen into the warm water for more than 30 minutes. Legs should face downwards in the water.
2. Examine joints to smooth moving. Do not try with force to prevent damages on the specimen. Put it back into the water and try out multiple time until it gets softened.
3. Place the specimen on the work board and adjust and fix the body parts i.e., legs, antenna and etc., the way you want to display with pins.
4. Keep it in the cool dry area for a couple weeks. Remove pins holding body part and place or display.
